Akko yesterday, today and tomorrow

If you're looking for a walking tour that goes beyond the crusaders and the shuk this is it. We heard (and saw) the fascinating story of how a proud port city already mentioned in the Bible became modern day Akko, a mixed city with many problems but also huge promise. We walked on ancient ramparts and sat in the playground of a 1950s housing project. Our inspiring guide was a member of the the Akko Educators' urban kibbutz, young people who have chosen to live and work in Akko to play their role in helping this beautiful city to reclaim its pride. Ours was a private tour for 3 friends. The team could not have been more efficient or accommodating. Highly recommended.
