Overview

The Golan Heights region is probably the most beautiful region of Israel. It is home for beautiful nature reserves, historical sites, and unique communities. We will start our day with visiting the biblical city of Tel-Dan - the famous capital of the biblical tribe Dan which preserves the original city gate (Iron Age) and remains of an ancient altar. Then, we will drive up to Golan Heights and stop for lunch in a Druze village (Masa'ade). Our next point is Mt. Bental, where while standing on the top of a dormant volcano, we will visit an abandon IDF bunker and look towards Syria. We will finish our day at the ancient synagogue Umm el-Kanatir, a unique example of a completely restored building, which was a spiritual home of a prosperous Jewish community that vanished in the 8 century CE.

There are many option to customize this tour: hikes, archaeology, and bird watching. Contact for details.

The Highlight of our self made 3 Week Trip to Egypt/Israell
Hank L, 12-03-2022
My wife and I had a fabulous private tour of the Golan Heights with David! We tailored it to our own interests. We visited the ongoing digs at Magalan, Tel Dan (wonderful short hike). The views of Lebanon, Syria and Jordan were breathtaking as were stops at waterfalls and scenic lookouts of Nof Kineret (Sea of Galilee). We stopped for a very authentic Druse lunch with lots of salads, humus, and felafel. David is an encyclopedia of archeology (his PhD and my great interest), historical and political knowledge. Our driver, Duran, also has been a tour guide for 41 years! We highly recommend this tour!
Private Guide up North

My husband and I booked a private tour through Israel in Color because many of the group tours are generic and we wanted to be able to focus on the things we wanted to see up north.
Pros:
- Targeted at the things you want to see/your particular religion (which can be relevant in Israel)
- Can adjust itinerary as needed because it is a private tour
- David (the guide) has a background in archeology which was very handy when visiting sites, but also meant that the tour was very focused on that. Depends what your preference is here.

Cons:
- No transportation included so you need to either book someone to drive you, or you will need to drive yourself and the guide up north. We found this a bit odd for us to be the driver. The alternative was adding almost $1K for the experience.
- It's a long day to spend with one person - perhaps it would have been better to meet a guide up north so it's not +5 hours in the car
