Church of the Nativity

Nativity Church, 4th Century Church in the place where Jesus has born, the oldest complete church in the Christian, built over the cave venerated as Christ’s birthplace, and dedicated in AD 339,Persians spared the Church of the Nativity when they saw a mosaic on an interior wall depicting the Three Wise Men in Persian dress.Today’s Church of the Nativity is cool and dark, its interior bare with no pews. Wall mosaics from the 12th century — depicting saints, angels and Church councils — have had their original sheen restored.
The restorers even uncovered a 2-metre mosaic of an angel that had been lost for centuries.
Trapdoors in the floor allow glimpses of the mosaic floor of Constantine’s basilica. The red limestone pillars were quarried locally. Many are adorned with Crusader paintings of saints.

Amazing Tour

Our main guide in Bethlehem was the local guy Elias Boaz. He was very entertaining and had a great knowledge about the cultural heritage (religion, archiology, traditions). He was very open and willing to explain the life and political situation in west bank. We were a big group of around 30 people but he easily managed to keep us together and safe throughout the whole time. George was our guide in the Nativity Church. He was very friendly, calm and had as well an extensive knowlege about the historical background of the church and Bethlehem. The tour was amazing and in the end the group received Falafel and drinks for free.

Wonderful tour with good stuff started from driving to Beath lehm meeting our local guide that he seinshumer knowledge. Shuperd feilds was nice and continues to olive woods factory after to refresh with strong Arabic coffee and baklava.... Nativity Church Tour was very special for me and it's worth it the money time you spend.. High recommended
